New Territory Requires Holiness
Have you ever wondered why it is so difficult when you are about to occupy or enter into a new space in your life? Often, we are too eager to jump in. We do not see the existing obstacles, the existing occupants, the existing environment, and the existing culture.
We may fail to see what is necessary to thrive in this new land. We look at it in the natural when we should be petitioning God in the supernatural. We do realize that we must embrace our God fully and the security of His presence.
Entering new lands require holiness. What is holiness? Holiness simply means to be set apart. Why is being set apart important in new territories? New territories come with a pre-existing set of circumstances. Circumstance can affect how you will occupy what has already been set aside for you. However, if we are walking in holiness our time, our body, our mind, our choices, and our talents are directed to out God given purpose. This limits the areas open to attack by the enemy in our armor.
New territories may also require the eradication of the current corrupted culture. We will find that when we line up with God and allow Him to go into the new territory before us that He can remove situations and circumstance that we do not even have the ability to see. So preparation is necessary. We need to be mindful of what we consume. What we consume will affect our ability to thrive spiritually. If we consume His Word the fruit will be bountiful, but if we consume the things of the world we bare little to no fruit.
Are you baring holy fruit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control)? When we embody these fruits, we are the perfect change agent. Holiness comes more readily the more fruit we bare. We can effect great change within the new territories God is about to place us in when holiness is our goal.
Make holiness your main target as you pursue God and new territories!
Deuteronomy 7:1-6 (NLT)
1 “When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are about to enter and occupy, he will clear away many nations ahead of you: the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. These seven nations are greater and more numerous than you.
2 When the Lord your God hands these nations over to you and you conquer them, you must completely destroy them. Make no treaties with them and show them no mercy.
3 You must not intermarry with them. Do not let your daughters and sons marry their sons and daughters,
4 for they will lead your children away from me to worship other gods. Then the anger of the Lord will burn against you, and he will quickly destroy you.
5 This is what you must do. You must break down their pagan altars and shatter their sacred pillars. Cut down their Asherah poles and burn their idols.
6 For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God. Of all the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure
