Uniting Love

Above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Colossians 3:14 ESV

As men, we tend to lean toward one of two extremes with ourselves: over-discipline or under-discipline. Some of us have a natural tendency toward being overdisciplined because we strive for perfection. Therefore, we seek to maintain order often at the expense of being harsh with ourselves and those around us (Ephesians 6:2). Others prefer an underdisciplined lifestyle because they fall prey to laziness or don’t want to deal with the responsibilities of life.

However, the biblical perspective brings balance that is produced by a sacrificial love, grounded in biblical commandments. Embody a Christlikeness that expresses itself in grace and truth (John 1:14).

Lord Jesus, may your Spirit bring forth unity that expresses itself in love. May the impulse of my heart be to personify your compassion, mercy, and grace.
