Change of Seasons
3 For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
2 A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to cry and a time to laugh. A time to grieve and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
6 A time to search and a time to quit searching. A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to hate. A time for war and a time for peace.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NLT)
As seasons change there is always a transiting period where the seasons seem to overlay and you wonder if it is winter, spring, summer, or fall. This closely parallels our spiritual seasons in life. The truth is that all four seasons are necessary for a proper life cycle and for growth to occur.
It’s in the winter season of life that we find ourselves caught up in the stresses and struggles of life; a time when we find our defenses depleted. This is when we go dormant and maybe even isolate from family, friends, and God.
It’s in the spring that the things buried in the winter begin to bloom and that our hearts again begin to flow and feel the Holy Spirit.
It’s in the summer that we look forward to the supposed rest of vacation in the normal rhythm of life.
It’s during the fall that the mind prepares for what’s to come in the winter. We watch and experience the changes that indicate that we may be on the cusp of winter season.
However, necessary refining occurs in the fall and winter seasons that we cannot gain during the spring and summer of our spiritual life.
We must remember that God will never leave or forsake us, He is there no matter where we place ourselves, He is there (Deuteronomy 31:6-8 & Hebrews 13:5-6). So whether it is winter, spring, summer, or fall, He is there and with Him who or what can be against you (Romans 8:31). Take courage during the Fall and Winter seasons of life (Joshua 1:9), we do not have to be frightened or dismayed because God is where we are and He is God Almighty!
Seasons will change but God, the Father will not!!!
