Minister Richard J. McFarland is a passionate preacher, youth mentor, and servant-leader whose life is marked by faith, service, and a heart for the next generation. Born in Long Branch, New Jersey, and raised in Louisiana, Richard was shaped by a strong foundation of family, discipline, and spiritual conviction. He is a proud U.S. Army veteran who honorably served ten years following his graduation from Junction City High School in 2007, including overseas service in Germany. During this time, his love for God continued to grow, laying the groundwork for the calling he would soon accept.
That call came clearly in the summer of 2019 at the United for a Purpose Conference and Ordination Ceremony, where he fully surrendered to God’s will and was licensed as a minister. Since then, Minister McFarland has walked boldly in his purpose, serving the body of Christ with excellence, integrity, and compassion.
Currently, Minister McFarland serves at Wholistic Life Ministries in Kennesaw, Georgia, under the leadership of Drs. Jay and Tina Jones. He is one of the church’s Youth Ministers, where he teaches and mentors middle school students through young adults, leading them in truth and spiritual growth. His passion for reaching the next generation is fueled by his commitment to equipping young believers to live Holy Spirit-led lives within a strong Christian worldview.
In addition to his role in youth ministry, Minister McFarland actively serves in several other areas of church life. He is a faithful member of the Men of Valor Ministry, where he supports the spiritual development and accountability of men in the church. He is also a valued part of the Hospitality Ministry, using his warm personality and servant’s heart to create a welcoming environment for all who walk through the church doors. Additionally, he serves in the Music Ministry as a drummer and supports the Audio/Visual team, bringing both spiritual and technical gifts to the house of God.
Minister McFarland is also academically equipped for ministry. He earned his Bachelor of Religious Science with a focus in Next Generation Ministry from Liberty University in 2022, and he is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity at Jacksonville Theological Seminary. He blends biblical knowledge with real-world experience to connect with people at every stage of life.
At home, Richard is a loving husband to Minister Kaytrenequa “Kay” McFarland, and a devoted father. He treasures time with his family and finds joy in studying the Bible, designing clothing and shoes, writing music, playing video games, watching anime, and rooting for his LSU Tigers.
Minister Richard McFarland is a dynamic and faithful vessel of God who believes in helping people live purpose-filled lives. Through his words, worship, and witness, he is raising up a generation of believers who will stand firm in faith and boldly live for Christ.
